Will the Olympic games bankrupt London.

With the amount of money floating about in the City of London they could afford to pay for it all by themselves.

After the next couple of years the 2012 Olympics will be just the tonic that the country, and the world, needs.

No that will never happen. All that will happen is that we pay more TAX to cover it

l do not think so, one of the main reason why people bid for the olympics is because it brings money into the country. Billions of dollars from tourists in a short amount of time.

of course it will,and everybody in the country will be expected to pay more tax because of it.

No the British Government has no choice but to bale out 2012 when there is a shortfall. They are already doing this by stripping support away from the British regions and concentrating it in the richest part of the country.

London will not go bankrupt but anywhere outside of London probably will

aa most of the cost is being bourne by the UK as a whole, & England in particular, London isnt't going to suffer too much.

there is a very fishy deal between Livingstone (as London Mayor) & the Governmet, which may mean the additional costs r borne by the UK Taxpayer rather than London. its not as if London residents r paying that much towards this farce, in the first place.

given the current economic climate l suspect that the organising committee will struggle to rasie the sponsorship it wants

l can not see the inflation figure changing dramatically downwards. we r probably in for a period of stagflation.. all those governement borrowings have to be paid back somehow

in short l can see rising costs, attempts by the current LondnMayor to cap costs, but ultimately l think its going to cost dramatically more thant the current worst case scenarios...

Nah, London are financially good and it shouldnt affect them too much.

No. London is not paying for the games, we all are. British people throughout the UK will shell out through taxes and the lottery, London will pocket whatever profit and infrastructure development there is, and while we get ready for the games, a few thousand people will have jobs building the facilities, providing the can get to London from Warsaw and Budapest,as well as from Essex and Edinburgh!

Probably not, but take a look at the Vancouver City elections going on just now. Some people are saying the bailout of the 2010 Olympic Village there might possibly bankrupt the city.
Who knows what they will find when they unwind all the dodgy financial deals?
