People are getting old in every Olympics. l grew up watching every Olympic games - including Summer and Winter.

Not everyone were born in the Olympic year.

Although I've always watched the Olympics, l remember missing the Nagano opening ceremony on TV and hearing everyone tell me how great it was. haha. Not such a great memory being the loser who missed it!

If you were born during the Olympics that sucks for you cuz you were so insignificant at a time that should have been one of the grandest things in your life.

l remember watching the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when Kerri Strug completed two vaults with a broken ankle, which lead the US gymnastics team to win gold.

l clearly remember the 1984 Olympics when Mary Lou Retton got a perfect 10 on her vault and took the gold medal. l was about 13 then. Prior to that l remember watching gymnastics and skating during Olympics but nothing significant stood out for me until Mary Lou.

First memory of the Olympics was the 1976 summer games.

l can remember watching the Olympics in Montreal, after Chicago shot off plenty of fireworks ( l was born in Chicago) around July 4 to celebrate the Bicentennial. l can remember watching the games, which happened around July 12 or so, & l was starting to like the swimming events way before Michael Phelps, & hearing the trumpet fanfare version of the ''Olympic Theme''..way before John Williams ''Olympic Fanfare'' took place. l also remembered that the Olympics was held mainly on the channel ABC, or Channel 7, & l also remember the most innocent Olympic commentator, Jim McKay.
l watched it on a Magnavox TV..the famous analog TV brand at that time, which rivaled RCA & Zenith. l was born in 1970..which was, regrettably, not an Olympic year.

It is sad that like the 11 Israeli olympic athletes in the 1972 Munich Games, Jim McKay passed away.

l was born a year after the Barcelona games in '92. The first games l watched were the Sydney ones in 2000; l was 6, nearly 7. l remember seeing Cathy Freeman light the torch, it was amazing.

l just asked my mom this question; she was born two years before Munich ('72), and the first games she watched were Moscow in 1980 when she was 10.
