l think China will be right up their again
they have a great way of training for these sports: force kids into sport programs at 3 years old
may not be humane, but it showed that it is effective.
The U.S. will more than likely be back near the top, we have had a steady run of 30-40 golds in the olympics for quite some time now
l expect Russia to put forth a little extra effort too, l thought they would do a little better, but they still had a successful olympics

No mate!! China is NOT 'Champion Beijing 2008' All the athletes that competed and won gold are the champions!
Chinese athletes won the mosts events held at the games along with a swag of other athletes from other countries.
NO country wins the olympics

A country cannot be olympic champion according to the IOC.
The IOC is statement:
''The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not recognise global ranking per country; the medal tables r displayed for information only.
Furthermore, the results that we publish r official & r taken from the ''Official Report'' - a document published for each Olympic Games by the Organising Committee. However, for the first Olympic Games (until Antwerp in 1920), it is difficult to give the exact number of medals awarded to some countries, due to the fact that teams were composed of athletes from different countries.''

From a purely statistical point of view, probably China again. Judging from their rapid increase in Gold medals and total medals haul, they are likely to do well in London.
