Different events have different age limits. Gymnastics age limit is 16, but for diving it is 14. Thomas Finchum was 14 when he first went to the Olympics, too.

l think that the risk of injury to a 14 year old is body in diving competition is much less than weightlifting, boxing, judo or gymnastics. That is why the age limit for diving and probably swimming is lower than the other sports.

sports all have different ages, Diving is 14 years old, and tom daley was allowed to compete because he had turned 14 in the year of the olympics. For a matter of fact he thought he wasnt even going to compete because he was just training for 2012, and did not think he would even qualify for china
