l believe Chicago or Tokyo will win it, probably Tokyo since it did score the highest in the bid and it is both a land filled with great culture and technological advances. But really you never know because china did win the olympics this year and seeing 2 olympic in that time period is a bit unlikely, alhough possibly great. Chicago is very possible because of how the USA nowadays seems to revolve around the world and just like how Tokyo is great, so is Chicago. l find brazil to be unlikely because of high crime activities and no one really seems to care about Spain.

l live in Chicago & our Mayor, Mayor Richard Daley is raising taxes on various items.we have a snow shovel tax! for me, Chicago is the solid favorite to win the hosting right for 2016 Olympic Games because three important factors.
1.) it will be almost 20 years since USA last hosted the Games. (1996 Atlanta)

2.) Chicago has a solid backing both from financial standpoint & security aspect of the Games.

3.) two high-profile personalities r helping Chicago to win its bid, NBA legend Michael Jordan & US presidential candidate Obama Barrack so those r big plus.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil could also win because of two important factors,
1.) South America has not hosted an Olympic Games yet so this is more of a sentimental pick.

2.) Rio de Janerio has already hosted the 2007 Pan American Games & is set to host the final match of 2014 World Cup of Football. so by that time, they will be prepared to host the Olympic Games. & besides, theres no report about crime activities when it hosted the Pan-Am Games last year unlike in Beijing where we all know what happened to the wife of the US volleyball coach.

Tokyo could be a nice Olympic venue since it already hosted the Games in 1964 but like u said, its been only eight years since Asia last hosted the Games.

consider Madrid, Spain out in the running because 2012 Summer is going to be held in London & 2014 Winter is going to be held in Russia. so its highly unlikely that Europe will host three successive Games.

so it will be a toss-up between Rio de Janeiro & Chicago for 2016 Games.
