Why India cannot get more gold medals at Olmpics

Need a national program like the Chinese and Americans. Medal winners are paid, which is sort of counter the whole notion of the games being for amateurs. 1 billion people, India should be in the top 5.

india is more concentrated on the computer and not sports.that is why.

What v need is a nation wide program to identify people wit best potential, educate and equip them in a consistent manner.It can b initiated by schools,colleges and even corporate sector.Further v must treat all d sports equally since its obvious tat cricket is d favourite game in india.

India can get more at Olympics provided we as Indians start appreciating the value of investing time, money & resources in sports. Sport in common Indian psyche has been a pass time, a hobby, something which we do not for living but as a by the by. This was the case until a few years ago. Though now both in urban centres as well as small towns kids r taking up sports & we r seeing winners coming in from everywhere (case in point r Sushil & Vijender). We will have more of these if we as Indians start looking at other avenues apart from Cricket. We have idolised cricket & media has blown the bands over it. We have done creditably in that sport but we pay too mcuh attention to it & have seriously ignored other sports.

Govt needs to invest in building sportsmen. Till recently only the not so well to do lower middle class family kids were taking up atheletics in India, as it gave been monthly pay which they cud use to feed their families. Only a decade ago we have had a huge number well to do family kids get into serious sporting habits. But thats not enuff. We need world class benchmarking of our abilities to come up to the international levels, we need facilities & equipments. Govt wud need to do this. Corporates need to do their bit on this too. We have got an IPL which is making our rich talented cricketers richer, can we do the same & get corporates to invest into other sports?

More importantly we need to change our attitude towards other sports..

Bcos not many people interested in the human is basic rights there for India.
Too many western countries interested in china human rights.

India is not a country but a union of countries and nobody speaks one language.

Because telephone customer service is not an Olympic event. Oh wait, they are not even good at that.

Older generation parents encourage there children to be doctors or engineers rather than sportspeople.
Also Sport is discouraged in India and that the government doesnt actually fund sports in the first place.
