Personally l think Adlington's, the way she came back on the 400 free, in 4th place with 50m to go, to touch Katie Hoff out at the end was fantastic, but even better was smashing Janet Evans 20 year old World record on the 800 free by 2 seconds, that was so tough.

Kelly Holmes. DEFINITELY. Sorry, but she is amazing. It does not look like she is going to do it and she sprints and makes it, she had the whole of the UK on the edge of their seats, first and second time. She is incredible.

There is a reason Evans' record was 20 years old. Some great swimmers have come and gone - and few got even close to that record. l think you answered your own question. It is Adlington without hesitation.

Adlington, she set a great record well ahead of the feild all the way through and it was just so unexpected, especially at her age it is a great achievement unlike kelly holmes who really didnt impress me as much in athens

Both of these people are unique in their own sports. Its basically asking whos better - Micheal Phelps or Usain Bolt - when both of them are masters of their own individual sport.
But personally, Adlingtons gold was the best as she broke 2 world records - by miles.

Kelly Holmes because it is more difficult to win 2 track & field golds than in swimming.

Hard one.
IMO Rebecca Adlington. l thought (and l am sure a lot of people thought so to) Katie Hoff was going to win and if it is true that Adlington was aiming for 2012, then we can expect a lot more from her!
Kelly Holme is was amazing but l still loved Adlington is more.

I'd have to say Kelly Holmes' were better (that is if any gold medal can be considered as better than another).
It is harder to win more than one gold on the track than it is when swimming (running is a high impact sport). Also after a carer blighted by injury & in her third olympics Kelly pulled off the double.
Whilst Adlington is were still an excellent result do not read too much into breaking the world record after all they were being broken almost every final in the pool.
