the organizer said they just cost 2or 3 billion for that.
we know china is developing country, the investment for infrastructure is increaseing very quickly all over china. even in other cities, such as SHANGHAI, GUANGZHOU, they also spent billions of dollar for airport, subway system and other modern buildings. so in my opinion, the money used for airport, subway in BEIJING can not be counted in the investment for games.
My means is thatSHANGHAl also spent more than $40 billion in infrastructure, can you say SHANGHAl spent so much money just for days of olympic football game ?

l know, they pay 40m for a New Stadium and it turns out after the Olympics in just stands there!

hyperbole.it is a truth that the games provide an impetus for cities/countries to improve themselves.seattles major marker is from a world fair almost 40 years ago.why do u think London is next (damn, they have to get rid of that drunk Mayor along the way.)

The Chinese r very smart people & they will make sure every cent is well spent. Eg The Bird Nest, will be transformed into Beijing Football club, hotel, restaurant, hypermarket & shopping malls . The grass field will be cut into small pieces to be sold as souvenirs etc. Some 110,000 seats will be removed & shipped to London for the next Games..Some of the seats in the Ice Cube will also be removed to make way for a training & entertainment centre, tennis court, shops, pub & restaurants.

Bear in mind that this money is not just for infrastructure. It is the overall costs of organizing, planning the ceremonies & events, building infrastructure, ensuring security etc. Apparently it is about 3 times more than what have been spent in Athens.

l do not know what is the amount spend on infrastructure alone. But Beijing have really done a great job. Congrats to them!

Maybe 2 or 3 billion is the net cost after revenue, more likely you have got your numbers completly wrong. The Western media is not out to sully the games, in fact they have done nothing but praise it
