You have to be realistic man. India can not deal with thugs and terrorists. India can not even host the cricket world cup without fans rioting and disrupting a match when their team loses.

One very important element is security for the athletes. Read about the 1972 Olympics in Munich. l do not think India can provide that.

Well they are hosting the next Commonwealth games and Wikipedia lists them as interested in bidding for 2020, so if the Comms go well they might be in with a chance,

1.security - london is hosting 2012 olympics.London is sitting on fire with terrorists increasing day-by-day in Britain.Beijing was also in danger by Tibetans & Turkmenistan terrorists,yet it hosted it well.India never experienced big attacks in events because at that time,security is so high.In 10 years,these terrorists will disappear like Khalistani forces.
2.India untidy - You r simply living in narrow shell.First check ur surroundings.You Britishers r worst behaved people in Europe.You r greater threat than terrorists.Britishers know only to get drunk & create hooliganism.Just few places r dirty like any country & this user is telling that India is dirty.what u thought that u will say trash about India & Indians will not retialiate.
If Olympics can be held in London & Rio (2016 possible) where crime rates r so high that u have to write a note on front of car that 'please do not steal my car. l am poor'.it can be held in Delhi (India) in 2020 when India will become developed nation.

Tintin,Crime rates r high In London & Rio.If u see Rio Favelas,you will come to know what bad hygiene is.Do not worry about infrastructure.It is improving day-by-day & there is 12 years left,so by that time India will get best infrastructure.As for winning medals,Greece wins less than India & yet it hosted Olympics.First travel to world & then comment on other countries.Staying at ur home in western country & talking trash is not going to help you.

l can see a tonne of obstacles in hosting the Olympics there. Transportation infrastructure is horrendous. Traffic is a nightmare there. Crime rates r high, lack of proper hygiene & sanitation in the overcrowded cities, plus a lot of social issues as a result of corruption, poverty & an unstable government. They just do not have the strong government needed to organize & coordinate the Olympics. They also lack the funds not just for stadiums but to give its cities a major overhaul. Other than cricket & hockey, they dont do much sports so hosting the Olympics wo not be realistic. They need at least another 50 years to put things in order.

Develop first, worry about the Games later. There r many more important priorities before considering Olympics. Lack of clean water & sanitation (70% have NO access to toilets), malnutrition (40% of children under five r stunted), illiteracy (40% of the population r illiterate), poor infrastructure (need l say more?), lack of housing (50% of Mumbai live in slums), & grinding poverty (40% of Indians r desperately poor according to World Bank is new poverty standard) must be improved before India can host a game without embarrassing itself. Also, three medals only at the latest Olympics? Come on.
I'd focus on these other areas first, for a few decades, before attempting a bid.
