Do Olympic athletes from the US get paid for winning medals by the government

l heard that Coventry from Zimbabwe got money for winning medals. Does the US do this or are there any other countries that do this.. l know that athletes can get money from endorsements and so on, but l am wondering about from the government. Also, if you could link any websites that dsicuss this it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Not from the government, they get some cash prizes from the USOC. The USOC is not funded by the US government, they're a non profit organization.

l believe the government does. Here in Canada the government, not the COC, gives out money. l understand it is the same in the US, l am not 100% sure though.
