What is the weight of a modern compund bow thats used in archery

Most of these bows weigh about 4 to 4.5 lbs, without accessories, so by the time sight,launcher and stabilisation have been added, the weight will probably be more than 6lbs.

all depend on what u put on there, some compounds go as light as 3 lbs without anything on there like the Oneida Black Eagle. Can go up above 10 lbs with stabilizer weights put on there.

Since this question is in the Olympics section, fyi, compounds r not allowed in the Olympics. Only recurves can be used at the Olympics. The physical weight of olympic style recurves r roughly the same as compounds, maybe a tad lighter. The heaviest recurve riser ever made the Hoyt Axis weighs in at 1.5 kg, that is 3.3 lbs.

Now if you're thinking of weight as in draw weight. Compound draw weight varies from 15 lbs for the Genesis bow all the way up to 100lbs. FITA regulations limit compound draw weights to 60lbs.

Recurve draw weights on Olympic style bows varies from 15lbs to 50lbs at 28'' of draw. There is no limit on the recurves, u can draw whatever u can pull. A friend of mine, not happy with the 50lbs manufacturer limit put on a pair of hunting limbs weighing in at 65 lbs. Most Olympic archers however shoot recurves at around 46-52lbs at full draw on the men side.
