The IOC accepted the birth certificates and school records that ''proved'' they had aged two years this past Jan. 1st. Even though in previous years they were much younger and those documents were a mistake. It is over as far as the Olympics is concerned.

what is up,
The answer is YES!
They r still saying the Chinese gymnast(s) r too young but it is over.
The IOC received documentation from the Chinese NOC that showed birth certificates, photo albums, medical records, etc, as requested & accepted them as proof.
However, the Chinese have done this in the past (most recently at the Sydney games) & it could not be proved until years later that the Chinese lied.
If they simply open the age limits then we would not need to have this discussion/argument in the future.
l hope this ur question.
Enjoy!

it is not over, but so far no luck with the investigation. Anyways, how can anyone prove wrong China is GOVERNMENT if they were the ones that made the false birth certificates & stuff ?
It is just the ''International Olympic Comitee'' & the ''Fédération Internationale du Gymnastique'' -vs- China is own powerfull & resourcefull government!
Thre is simply no proof. At my country, we had a similar issue with a little 9 year old Braziliang girl & her coach ( her own mom). The girl had the age to be on the basic-intermediate levels..but she was so awesomelly good, & her mom pushed her so hard ( literally beyond her tears & whinning) that the girl had the same skills & level of an Elite Olympian girl for women is artistic gymnastics.
The girl was really good, but she was not of legal age to compete at her level of skills. neither at our national competitions nor international ones. Even with that, her mom kept pushing her on even further & harder. The girls was amazing, but clearly not enjoying it at all. She started getting more frequent injuries & it raised a ''red-flag'' at my gym.
There was a reunion & our gymnastics' federation decided to ban her from training at our gym causse' her mom was putting her physical & mental health in great danger, not to mention her little body is development, because of her hard training (+5 NON-STOP hours, 6 days a week)...this is why there is an age restriction the olympics for gymnast. it is just to protect us gymnasts.
China thinks otherwisewith 5 of the 6 girls, but it is not safe for a little child to take the ammount of pounding, hits, falls, bruises, mental stress, INJURIES, etc. that an average gymnast gets from Elite Level training..that is also why there is a mimimum age restriction for each of the levels too.
Anyways, back to the case, it will be really difficult to proove China wrong if their own government were the ones that counterfeited & produced the ''original'' birth documents. l am a 100% sure that the 5 of those 6 girls that got a warning from the F.I.G. & the I.O.C. r not 16 years old, as required by the Olympic is & FIG is gymnastics rules.

It is over now. There is nothing to prove that the Chinese are cheating. Besides, Chinese always look so much younger than they actually are, due to their smaller body frame, diet, lifestyle, and texture of their skin.

Umm..i'm pretty sure it is over because l have not heard anything about since the Olympics ended. But l do not know for sure i'm pretty sure that it is over. They did look a little like they were to young. l wish the Olympics were every year.

It might not be. If they're proven underage at the end of the year, l think they will lose their medals. Otherwise l believe they will keep the medals.

Associated Press Investigation of ages of Chinese gymnasts expands By NANCY ARMOUR – 30 minutes ago
The investigation into the ages of China’s gold-medal women’s gymnastics team has been expanded to include members of the 2000 team that won a bronze in Sydney, the Associated Press has learned.
International gymnastics officials r examining whether Yang Yun & Dong Fangxiao, in particular, were old enough to compete at the Sydney Olympics. Gymnasts must turn 16 during the Olympic year.
“If we had a look at all the articles that came before, during & after the games, there were always rumors about the ages of China’s athletes in Sydney,” Andre Gueisbuhler, secretary general of the International Gymnastics Federation, told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
“We did not have another choice,” he said. “If we want to remain credible, then we have to look into things.” and:
The video, produced by China’s state-run television network, is an interview with Yang Yun, a young female gymnast who competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The same minimum age requirement that brought up so much controversy at the Beijing Games was also in effect then. Yang Yun’s passport said she was sixteen. She says she was fourteen. With a direct admission from the athlete herself, we see solid evidence that China is no stranger to falsifying government documents, lying to the IOC, cheating at international competitions, deceiving the rest of the world, & prospering because of it. Yang Yun helped her team win the bronze medal in Sydney & left the games with three medals. Now, years later, Yang Yun enjoys a pleasant life & her story is told to inspire her countrymen.
