Why was there protests at beijing olympics.

It is for my h/w so l need quite a lot but to the point info if u will, 10points and 5star for best answer x

just so that the bast ard of dalai lama made propaganda..it was all paid by him all those protest.

There are lots of reasons for protests. Some are the situation in Tibet, Darfur, and the Chinese human rights policies.
However, if there were any protests l did not see them, and l do not think there were any.

It all started a few months before the Beijing Olympic Games where a few monks attack in Tibet, which is in China. Soon, l heard in the news that it is because of some political reasons that caused the monks to attack in Tibet. l do not know what r the reasons but l can tell that it is something like the decision of having Tibet as part of China.

As the news have been spread across the world, many people from around the world r ' angry ' & they want China to ''free'' Tibet, according to what l have seen in one of the photographs of the protest.

Soon, many of the ' angry ' people went to the places where the Beijing Olympic flame would pass through to protest. Which had caused the flame to be extinguished by the protesters while passing through London.

Even after the torch relay, many protesters continue to protest in the host city, Beijing.

As a chinese, l really hope that China would do the Olympic Games well, but l am very disappointed by the fact that there were protesters at the Beijing Olympic Games disturbing the games & spoiling the Olympic games spirit there. l really hope that there is peace in China.......

The Games meant that there was a lot of media attention turned towards China. With so many country leaders, national teams & media, such as tv stations & journalist, all in one place at the same time this allowed various interest groups a greater opportunity to be heard.

These interest groups then used this platform to further their causes with the hope of putting pressure to bear on the Chinese government in the hope that the Chinese government would want to avoid embarrassment.

The protests that tended to make international headlines were on grounds of human rights namely Tibet, religious freedom & the conflict in Darfur, Sudan. The domestic protests that did not make the headlines were more on corruption & loss of land for development.

Our media like every other media shows not always the entire truth but what they think u should hear or u have to read the history of & what Tibet done to China before judgement, then we got the air quality, but, when the air quality was good, did they call it from the rooftops ?afraid not 5.000Mt is 10.000Mt is men & women both won by the same athletes in quality times no mention of air quality. l was in China last November now the media did not give us this, there is no vandalism, no graffiti,no litter, no beggars, u feel safe at all times night or day no matter where u are,of course the media in there cynical wisdom will say that is because they r suppressed (well maybe they just love their country the people r absolutely welcoming ( l was invited & played table tennis in one of the many outdoor recreation ares with 2 chinese ladies they provided the bats) the children were bubbly (teasing me with their knowledge of english) l discussed Mao with university professors so do not believe all the rubbish our media would have u believe they can & will discuss politics, and, did not America have segregation until the late 60's, r we still trying to fight inequality, ageism, in our own country so let is face it nobody is perfect give them time just give them time
