What happened to that American Olympic track athlete

l remember watching an Olympic trial weeks/months before the Beijing Olympics. They showed this athlete with lots of facial hair and he won the trial. It was a running event with water and hurdles. Who is he and what do you call that event?

l think the event that you are thinking of is the steeplechase. The man who won the steeplechase trials was Anthony Famiglietti. Is that the guy you are thinking of? http://mensracing.com/photos/nyrr8k02/8k93.jpg

You are probably talking about Anthony Famiglietti who ran the steeple chase.

He ran a personal best of 8:17.34 in his qualifying heat finishing 3rd.

In the finals, he ran 8:31.21 and finished 13th. The winning time was 8:10.34. If he had matched his qualifying time, he would have finished 9th.
