okay l started gymnastics 5 months ago and l am already way above where the normal person would be for just starting out. l took dance for 6 yrs and they say that helped alot but since l started late would l have the chance at being in the olympics? ~thanx

your never too young to ttry anything. im writing a book and l dont think it will get published, but hey. at least l tried. u can try too..

Probably not unless you are as good or better than the present people
that go. You need both the support of your family and a very good coach/trainer and the funds to try out.
Possibly you could try for the 2012 games, but again you need great training, support and funds.

l am sorry to say but yes 13 is far too late to make the olympics, even if u r very advanced.

Those who compete at the olympics do senior international competition by the time they r 15 years old. Basically this means they r competing olympics & world championships from the year they r 15 turning 16.

By ur age they r already at the elite level (which is the above level 10) & by ur age they r already training 30-40 hours a week. Generally 5-7 hours a day 6-7 days a week.

Kids who make the olympics usually start the sport between 4-6 years old. In order to reach that level they must be small, light, strong, fast flexible, courageous, driven, energetic, perfectionist kids. Their parents must be prepared to spend a fortune on training & competitions, many taking second jobs or second loans to pay for it. And they must have a very talented coach with a very dedicated gym.

It has never happened, that with gymnastics in the way it is today that someone has started at age 13 & made the team.

However, even though the olympics will be out of ur reach it does not mean u cant have a wonderfyul & enjoyable competitive gymnastics career.

well the olympics is in 4 years, you will be 17. but l dont think 4 years is enough practice to make the olympics. All the olympic gymnasts have started when they were like 3-4 years old, and have been doing gymnastics from 10-15 years.

maybe? but young Chinese gymnasts were probaly 14 or so in the olympics. and they had worked their butts off since they were in diapers!
